Feeling like drifting through the void?

Bluesky has plenty of good stuff, but figuring out your own corner in this new social space can feel overwhelming. That's why I'm experimenting with channels. It's not just a feed in one direction.

Note

Bluesky crossed the 40 M mark on 1 Nov 2025. It's a major milestone. In Bluesky, unlike other social media platforms, you're in control. For many regular users, the real sense of freedom might not immediately hit home. Here, you choose what to see. It isn't just about block or mute controls, you can actually curate feeds based on your preferences. There are a few platforms offer those services, like Graze Social.

Still, that freedom can sometimes feel overwhelming. Not everyone wants to build feeds. Many just want to tune in and find their space. Since this platform represents a kind of new social media revolution, not everything will be perfect right away. To work through features and build a stable experience, we're in an experimental phase. That's when we get to test everything, see what sticks, and build on top of what works.

All my Bluesky client experiments follow the same pattern. I get an idea, I prototype it, and I throw it onto the open web. Anyone can use it. That's the whole point of an open web. It's just accessible and you can just do things.

This app came from that same spark. The idea hit me when I remembered that scene from Gravity where Sandra Bullock's character drifts through the void, sending messages across every channel, trying to catch even a hint of human connection, and eventually reaches some random person on Earth. That moment stuck with me. You have to tune into to the right channel to get the connection you're looking for.

This space works a bit like that. Not like Reddit, not a forum, not a single feed. Every channels has its own instances. There can be multiple feeds, lists, profiles, everything. You aren't just browsing from outside, you're actually inside the channel itself.

I've also integrated the advanced Bluesky search feature. Previously, I created a Bluesky advanced search tool, but that was just a frontend mimic. I wasn't familiar with Bluesky terms at the time, so it only populated search operators and opened them in a new tab or app. Now, the search works directly here itself. Keep in mind that Bluesky requires some searches to be performed within the app, which means certain queries won't work unless you're signed in.
